KRCD uses two processes for printing the label information on the CDs:
Screen Printing Process: used for all special colours or 1,2,3 colour orders.
Offset printing process: for all 4, 5 process colour orders.
Screen printing process: is a process where the image is exposed from a positive onto a pre-coated light sensitive material screen, and then the screen is washed, where the unexposed material washes away, leaving the image. This is then put on the machine, where the screen is filled with ink, and another action, a hard polymer blade squeezes the ink through the screen onto CD below. The ink is then dried by exposing this to UV light before printing the next colour.
Offset Printing: in this process, the offset negatives are exposed on a pre-sensitive plate. The negatives are colour separated into the basic colours C M Y K, (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) .The plate is then put in the machine where a rubber roller puts the ink on the plate, and a rubber blanket picks up the ink from the exposed areas and deposits in on the CD. The CD is then passed through the UV lamp to dry the inks. As a default, all orders should specify whether a white base is required, as the default is no white base. We also have a provision to screen print an over coat varnish or a special colour, for very specific requirements.
